Arnie Clay earned his Maine guide license in 1995 and started Thornehead Guide Service that same year. By that time sea duck hunting had become his passion. Clients from around the country come to Maine to experience this different type of waterfowling. Many of those clients have become friends and frequent visitors to Maine. Some have brought their families so they too can experience what Maine has to offer.
Dale Clay started her travel consulting business in 2005 after having traveled extensively and schooled in the travel industry.
In 2006 the Clays combined the Guide Service and the Travel Service to become Thornehead Guide & Travel, Inc. The combination of the two popular services now offers more to those clients who want everything taken care of.
The name “Thornehead” comes form the unique piece of property in North Bath (Maine) along the scenic Kennebec River at the south end of the traditional waterfowling ground of Merrymeeting Bay. Thornehead is now a land preserve set aside for the enjoyment of the people. The Clays built a log home there in 1992. |
